God Bless the USA...

Since the 4th of July is rapidly approaching I feel it's now time to pay homage to the wonderful land-of-the-free that we call America!  Our home bursts at the seams with all things Americana and I love how proud it makes me feel, so I decided to add yet another piece of patriotic glory to my decor and this is a banner that will stay right where I photographed it, on my shelf by our front door.  I made this by first painting 3 wooden stars with white acrylic paint, then sanding them to distress them a little.  I then decopaged papers from Webster's Pages to the fronts of the stars, then added a border of distressed linen stickles for some sparkle.  Then I created 3 paper rosettes, adhere silver tinsel underneath and added glitter to the edges of those as well before glueing them down on the stars.  I then painted 3 wooden letters white, sprayed them with adhesive and added glitter to the front, then adhered those sweet little gems from Creative Charms, to the tops of the letters.  For the wooden spools, I painted them first, decopaged papers around them, and added gems to those as well, for a little bling.  When all the pieces were finished, I had my hubby drill some tiny holes in the corners so I could thread some wire through to connect them.  I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoyed making this.  :)

I am planning on making this super cute garland with a few girlfriends at the end of the month. I can't seem to find stars like yours, where did you get them?"

Thanks!
Amy

Hi Amy, oh I'm so glad I saw your comment because I'd feel terrible if I didn't answer your question. I found those stars at Jo-Ann's. There wooden stars and there located with all the wooden stuff like, frames and shelves. Good luck!! :)
